fleetnet talkgroup question

i was listening to fleetnet yesterday and i heard activity on 9232 when i checked on the data base and i saw it was opp tech service but what i was listening sounded like mto maintenace can any one confirm who owns that talkgroup

its TSB1, there has been no activity on it or at least not in zone 1. its possible you got a false decode

No, it was indeed active yesterday. This is one of those talk groups that you don't really talk about when you hear it active. Best to keep it to yourself and enjoy it while you can.

Yup, it's definitely active in Zone 1.

If you heard analog MTO maintenance on it then you got a false decode.

It is true - the various "secret squirrels" say the damdest things when they think nobody is listening. In order to preserve good monitoring it is best to preserve their belief that NOBODY IS LISTENING. Shhhh..

And they were not very professional on the radio either, talking about taking a crap at one point.

They don't need to be 'professional' while on the air. They use talkgroups that aren't monitored by the comm centre, and are usually secure from anyone else listening too (us, basically).

This has come up several times in the past, that people don't like what they hear or get offended by the language. There is an easy fix to that... the L/O button on your scanner. Same as any other medium, if you don't like what you are hearing or seeing simply turn the channel. These guys perform a very tedious (and I'm sure quite often... dull) job and I have no issue with them cracking jokes and shootin' the sh*t to pass the time.

Hear hear. As Chris put it these guys are doing a job. I dont work in an office and worry about political correctness and like the guys you heard our vocabulary is very blue. When you are with your bodies you dont shoot the you know what? These guys are probably talking about dirtbags and are honest about it cause they are on their own so to speak. And to the poster(s) who constantly talk too much about these talkgroups: there are plenty of law enforcement guys watching you post about what you hear. :-|
