I added the filter along with the Flightaware ProStick at the same time. Look at the screen shot and you can clearly see what day! If you're using the Flightaware stick you have to use the filter or reduce the gain of the amp.

Douglas is right, if you're using the FA dongle, you should add the FA filter. It made a difference for me, increasing my range and message count. What really woke things up is when I added a Raspberry Pi running Piaware. With that, you get the added benefit of MLAT. Set up Virtual Radar Server to grab the data and you've got an awesome personal radar system!

Hi thanks have been using the filter but cannot tell if my range has increased due to my beam only at around 3 metres high getting aroung 120 nm radius antenna is going to be at around 6 metres high will also be using a yaesu-g250 rotator.I have also tried the filter on my kinetic sbs-3 and it didnt make any difference in range.

Regards Lino.

The filter is really only needed if you're in a congested area with a lot of RF interference, or if you are using the FA dongle. If you're out in the country the filter can potentially decrease your range due to its insertion loss.
