Hello RadioReference Community,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone can help me find additional frequencies to monitor in the Florence area. I’ve put together a comprehensive list of frequencies I’m currently scanning, but I’m always on the lookout for new channels and updates.

For reference, I use a Yaesu FT5DR, so I’m unable to monitor certain frequencies (P25, NXDN, Trunked, etc). Below is my current list. If anyone has suggestions or knows of any active frequencies in this area, I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Best regards,

Looks like you are already off to a great start!

I echo the above -- wouldn't hurt to include VHF Marine Ch. 16 and 22A for USCG in your scan list. Also, maybe MURS 1-5 on VHF for any local use by flaggers, logging, etc.

And while you're at it, 155.340 for HEAR (medic to hospital), 155.805 (OR State SAR), 154.280 (OR State Fire Marshal mutual aid).

add the standard Marine VHF channels if you want.

Also USCG VHF and UHF frequencies.

A few were ones that I saw licensed to Lane County, while others were from the suggestions. I will also add MURS and Marine VHF to my list, and I have HEAR listed as Florence Hosp! Thanks for the suggestions, I'm still open to them if anyone has any!

USCG is 98% P25 so I'm not sure how you're planning to monitor that traffic with the Yaesu. Anything VHF Marine/USCG will be analog but they're mostly P25. USCGAux is a separate org so they don't count.

Thanks for the insight! I've noticed that most US Coast Guard channels do seem to use P25, but I haven't seen any indication that the aviation frequencies utilize it. From what I’ve checked on RadioReference and Oregon's TICFOG (although it’s a bit outdated), I haven’t come across anything that suggests otherwise. I also don't think P25 would function in AM because of the C4FM modulation, though I could be wrong!

I recently got an RTL-SDR, so I might give it a try for monitoring the primary USCG channels. Thanks again for your input, and I’m open to any other suggestions!

Oregon CAP has a nice radio system, they run dual mode P25/Analogue and on many occasions where the aircraft (often a fighter) can't get anyone to answer them on P25, they switch to the analogue. They probably have a repeater that covers your area

They do have repeater in area, i hear stuff in analog and P25
Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely check out the Civil Air Patrol frequencies—sounds like a good lead. I’m still exploring different systems, so I’m open to any more recommendations if you have them!
