• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

A PRESIDENT Texas 1800 on mine.

SIRIO Performer 5000 would get into the same ballpark. Same for one of Kales 27” shaft Predators, or a SIGNAL ENGINEERING Golden Rod 45.

All are contenders against a 102”, but without the highway-speed bends.

If the truckers switch to CB FM, how will they be able to run 1000 watts so they cab ague from one fuel island to the other???

The base stations are the problem. One can leave behind some yayhoo with a few hundred watts fairly quickly. But a beam and a kilowatt are something else.

Yes and they will sound just fine. The truck alternator wont be happy with the Class C current draw.

Okay so it's been a bit since FM has come out. Anyone using it on a regular basis? If so, thoughts on buying a few and using as a base and a few mobiles for back country communications. Think AM skip would be an issue?
We're pondering a project.
Thanks.
Oh, my God. I was under the "delusion" that I would find FM CB traffic. Other than a few radio-addicts in Temple, Texas, I have never ever talked to one living soul on FM. I bought an Anytone 500-M. This radio pales in comparison to the performance of a $35.00 used Cobra 29 which was peaked out with talkback. It is a workhorse.

I thought that there would be a flock of those migrating to channel 19 FM. I have not found much FM CB radio radio traffic in Texas; however, I have never tried to talk in a larger city, Houston, Dallas, etc.

I found it nice when the local inbreds start giving radio hobbyist's advice gomer tells you you need to do this and Cletus says the opposite, that's when we go to FM and have intelligent conversations. These are the locals running 1K and splattering 4 or 5 channels. Does not matter you can't understand a word they say, but their watt meter say's they are putting out 800 watts.

It would be an slight improvement over AM as far as noise reduction. I don't know of any domestic radios that have FM plus CTCSS tone squelch. It would be a plus if the radios have that so you don't have to listen to others. The EU/UK radios made by Albrecht offer CTCSS. President might on their EU/UK but they don't on the US models.

I’d say it’s when one realizes he might tie up AM-19 awhile that requesting all to switch to the desired FM frequency (21-FM?) is how it’ll get more popular.

Among locals, first.
