I'm hoping the members can solve a mystery for me.

There has been a lot of FM interference/static lately on the
Londonderry PD frequency I listen to. LPD's frequency (155.865)is
APCO-25 digital, but in the last several days there has been a
significant amount of FM interference on this frequency. It's almost
as if there is an analog transmission being broadcast on this same
frequency. I've been listening to this frequency for a long time and
never had this issue before.

Has anybody else noticed this over the last several days? I checked
with another local scanner guy and he confirmed hearing the same
thing, but did not know where this was coming from either. It's very
annoying to hear in between LPD broadcasts.

I thought I would check with the group here also.

Thanks!

Mike

It was wicked annowing, I noticed it...the PL was 136.5 which would be Londonderry PD, but due tho the fact their in APCO-25 Digial mode they wouldn't hear it

Any suggestions out there on what can be done programming-wise (Pro-2096) to eliminate this interference? It's really souring my monitoring experience with LPD.

Thanks again

You just have to live with it i guess, I have a Pro-96, and i get the interferance as well, but there is nothing i can think of to do, but LPD probly realizes the issue and they will probly have to fix their repeater. I have herd the PD operate in Analog mode on 155.865/136.5. So the radio system is having issues.

-Is 172.150 in P-25 mode for the MHT?

FWIW, it's pretty much the same thing with the 396. My local PD operates P-25 (clear, thankfully), however heading eastward about 10-15 miles out of town, I get interference from a local PD in Burlington County, NJ. That's with the PL search off, mind you.

Sounds like somewhere in Mass. and/or Maine has the same freq as Londonderry PD and that's what could be the problem.

In Mass, a check of the RR D/B shows that the closest possibilities for that freq are Stoughton (just outside of Brockton on the outside of the 128 loop) and Hull (on the South Shore near Quincy and Braintree).

In Maine, the State of Maine is licensed to that freq, however it doesn't appear to be anywhere close to Southern Maine (Augusta, Bangor, and Orono); Cumberland County is also licensed to 155.865 out of Portland, so that could be a possibility.

Or, there's the Portsmouth Housing Authority, which is also licensed to the same freq as LPD. That might be the most logical place to start (in NH, 155.865 is also licensed to Keene and Colebrook).

Hope this helps figure out the interference source...

Colebrook is too far away, Keene Police 155.250/P-25 and FD 154.430/136.5, and Londonderry PD operates in Mixed Mode 155.865/136.5 The Interference isint Voice, its loud noise almost like static, but its not another agency.

But thanks for the attempt

Just thought I would get back to the group with an update on my orginal post. The interference situation has apparently been resolved. It has been gone for quite some time now on the LPD frequency :)

About 2 weeks ago, I did over hear several exchanges between the LPD radio officer and dispatch about the problem being worked on by the radio vendor. Evidently, they found a solution. Everything's nice & clear again on 155.865.

Thanks again for the previous replies.
