Hey Ken. Don't you find it funny how nobody ever notices a trailer brake or plow controller mounted by your knee, but everyone notices the scanner? Hmmmmmmm.

Post a pic and I'll say the same thing about it. I forgot that common sense and opinions are not allowed on RRdC

I shouldn't have to, but here goes. There are thousands more of them on the road then there are scanners. Most of them are dealer installed options or professional trailer store upgrades. Look in any parking lot at a full size truck. (the kind that gets used as a truck, not mom's grocery getter suv) Now of course, some of your late-model one ton trucks are getting nifty integrated controllers in the dash, but you have to order the truck that way, and you can't get it on 1/2 or most 3/4 tons. I'm just sayin, there doesn't seem to be a rash of extra knee injuries cause by accessories, otherwise we would have heard about it from the CPSC, IIHS or NHTSA or something by now.

If you want to mount it discreet, here are 2 suggestions:

1) Invest in and undercover antenna. If someone sees and antenna and they are looking for something to steal, they are going to be looking for a radio and will tear the vehicle up more looking for it.

2) Mount that head in the glovebox. In my area, the plainmarked units would mount there radios in that location.

Those are just 2 ideas too consider. Other than that looks good for what you have.

Or another idea would be to come up with a slide out panel that you could mount under your drivers seat and than pull it out to see when your drive if you wanted to see what was broadcasting. When your finished just slide it back under the seat when you arrive at your location.

I've looked at the undercover antennas and just think that they are too limited (especially for scanning).

Thanks for the suggestions!

Drilling holes...

Okay, i'm ready.

Only problem is, i'm not sure how to get the headliner down or at least remove the overhead light over the rear seats.

Anyone have experience with these cars and those issues?
