Fort Lupton

As has been discussed in the past here Fort Lupton is dispatched by Adcom on id 1955, did anyone here the carjacking and pursuit this morning?

It was interesting because Adcom and Weld County Dispatch were both monitoring the channel and police traffic was handled by Adcom but when the units onscene wanted an ambulance they just called Weld County and requested it.

A little strange having two dispatch centers involved.

I heard the traffic as well this morning. Officers from Brighton and Weld Co. responded to the incident, but they were all operating on their primary talkgroups. I thought the whole point of the dtrs was so that agencies could talk to each other. At the same time last night Adams Co. units were tracking car thievs that abandoned a car. Officers responded from Commerce City and Brighton, but they were operating on their own talkgroups as well.

Ft. Lupton has always had a `split-personality'. {WAN GRIN!} OTOH I've always figured that Brighton and Communist City... err... Commerce City (Ever notice that quite a few of their signs refer to themselves as City of Commerce City, BTW? [Department of Redundancy Department anyone? {VB GRIN!}]) never really had it out all that much for each other. (To be sure, there have always been the `usual' occasional `feuds' now and then but nothing more so that any other municipality.) Ft. Lupton, OTOH, has pretty much always tried to be `bigger' than they were and while they would grudgingly work with Weld County they jealously guarded their `turf' almost to the point of absurdity at times. (I once saw *and* listened, on my scanner *and* with my ears, to an argument about just who had jurisdiction at a TA where no more than about a foot of either vehicle was across the `line' into Ft. Lupton! If there hadn't been a trooper show up at the time he did I was expecting to see a donnybrooke break out between them and the county! [The SO officer was actually trying very hard to *not* get into a fight while the Ft. Lupton officer was doing just about everything *but* actually taking a swing at the SO officer. It was both funny and pathetic watching a grown man throwing a 6 year old's style temper tantrum. {FROWN!}] Until then I had basically written off the things I'd heard as just being `folklore' / `local tales'. ) I suspect that their not using a `common' TG *and* ADCOM dispatch is just SOP? I won't/can't say the same thing about Brighton and the City of Commerce City. *That* just may be just part of the `newness?' of the system and their `newness' when it comes to using it? (I've noticed that the longer an agency is on the DTRS the better they get at using it for the most part. There are *still* some that aren't quite getting `the hang of it', though.)

Fort Lupton Police are now dispatched by Weld County Communications as of today. TG 1955 is being used for all police communications.

This would explain why the Weld dispatch center was on the TG during the incident. They were obviously in the process of transitioning dispatch centers at the time.

FWIW Fort Lupton fire moved to the Weld Fire TG's several weeks ago and are being paged on Weld Fire A 153.785.
