So, I have a question. Why is FWFD/EMS no longer dispatched on the FWFD Locution channel, and “now” (and have been for 2-3 months) dispatched on the FAO dispatch channel? Are they having issues with the old Locution channel, done with that channel, or something else? Just simply curious. Thanks

I think the increased call volume from the EMS merger led them to try something different. Having Locution spitting out calls constantly probably made it less usable for crews monitoring. There are many other ways they are alerted that are quieter, including only alerting over the radio (on FAO 1) if the units being dispatched are marked "available on radio", alerting over the city network, MDCs, phone apps, etc.

Makes sense. Kinda figured it was somewhere in that ballpark, but wasn’t exactly sure.
