The Radio Reference database for Franklin County lists 155.580 / 173.8 as a sheriffs channel.

Looking at the actual license for 155.580, the frequency is linked with an EMS channel.

Can someone confirm that Franklin County uses 155.580, with a tone of 136.5 Hz., as an EMS channel ?

I had a logging the end of October, with an EMS unit 10-17 to Greensboro on a transport. Nothing else in the region fits 155.580 R / 136.5.

At the time I was logging other agencies in the region, including Martin, Halifax, Vance, Orange, Nash and Wake Counties ... but 155.580 / 136.5 - whoever it is - was a new logging for me.

Thanks !

Franklin Co. Ems

Jeff,

Franklin Co. Ems is dispatched on 154.145 Mhz PL 136.5 along with the county fire departments.

The county has recently recieved a license for 155.160 Mhz with a PL of 136.5. I do not know if this is going to be used as a new Ems/Rescue dispatch channel or maybe just a tac channel.

The Sheriff's Department primary dispatch 155.430 Mhz I am not sure of the PL code at this time.

If you need the PL code just advise and I will send it to you.

Thanks
David

Thanks for offering, Yardbird ... I appreciate that. Please feel free to ask, if I can be of any help to you, also.

As RR has listed, the tone on 155.430 is 173.8. I have monitored Franklin County Sheriffs on a few short-term occasions ... mostly via band enhancements.

155.160 is not a new channel for Franklin County. Callsign WPGV972 initially only covered 155.160, and dates back before 1997. The "date issued" in the FCC database is a little misleading:

License Renewed 01/25/05
Renewal Reminder Letter Sent 12/27/04
Construction/Coverage Reminder Letter Sent 11/29/04
License Modified 02/26/04
License Modified 06/20/03
Audit Response - License Operational 09/19/01
License Converted 10/20/00
Authorization Printed 01/24/00
License Renewed 01/24/00

Some folks have referred to 155.160 / 136.5 as a "rescue" channel, and that may be the more-appropriate use in Franklin County.

WPGV972 now covers three frequencies ... 155.160, 155.580 and 153.875. The last frequency - 153.875 - is also covered in a separate mobile license held by Franklin Co EMS, which is another reason why I think 155.580 might be incorrectly associated in the RR database.

Maybe it's time for me to plan a monitoring roadtrip ... a loop up I-85, over I-64, down I-95, over I-20 and back up I-77. :p

Don't feel bad Jeff, I'm going to the beach this month and instead of 74, I'm going to do I-77 to Columbia, then I-26 east just so I can listen to the Pal800

That's when you know you're getting bad

Hi, Grog !

My first choice would have been to combine a little scanning / searching time near the Va. border with a visit to the Wake County 911 facilities that the folks on the Tarheelscanner list on Yahoogroups have arranged (March 21 @ 7 p.m.).

The Mrs. will be in Wash D.C. for those couple of days, so I scheduled off from work to spend some extra time with our dogs (they're like children to us).

The only catch is arranging their dinner, then getting up I-85/40/64 in the afternoon traffic to get there on time.

Regarding Pal800, if you haven't checked out the SC Forum on RR recently, the "sticky note" from Brian offers an abundance of information. It should be among the latest threads on that forum.

Yeah, I've seen it, I plan on printing it this week to add to my "hard book" of info I'm building.

BTW, I'm kf4ury from the carolinascanner yahoo group. As soon as I saw you were here, I thought there must be some good info :D

I've gotten where I check the SC & NC forums here every day for new info.

I think that's enough of a hijack for one forum
