Franklin County (NC) Testing New Public Safety Radio System

Franklin County Emergency Communications will begin testing the new public safety radio system on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. Testing will take place Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is expected to take place over the next two weeks.

They probably should go inside several larger buildings in their area and walk around with portable radios as part of the testing. Being outside using vehicles isn't great but the vendor probably won't say anything about that. Let's hope the county POC talks to their fire chief and it comes up.

They have been. They're doing voice and paging tests inside buildings across the county. They're calling out locations so you can hear where they are. Fingers crossed this 800 system wont be a disaster like the current Harris VHF system.

Hopefully it will be right from the start. Good to hear they are going into buildings. That's usually a weak spot with signal penetration issues they miss
