Hey all,

I have released the Beta for the Scannerbase BC246T Advanced Virtual Control (AVC246) Software for Windows over at Scannerbase.com/dev.

Some screen caps for those interested in seeing what the program looks like before digging into the details:

A Quick Overview of the Scannerbase Advanced Virtual Control BC246T (Scannerbase AVC246):

As it's name implies, the Scannerbase AVC246 is advanced virtual control software for the Uniden BC246T Scanner Radio. Amongst a growing list of unique advanced control functions like Macro's, Extended Info and Group QK Buttons, the Scannerbase AVC246 software will allow you the opportunity to log both conventional and trunked frequency hits to both text and audio format (WAV format).

More info and link to the Free Download is available here:

Future updates and other software releases will be listed in the
Scannerbase Software Development Site located at:

Enjoy, please email me at software@scannerbase.com or just post away and let me know how it works for you!

While installing this file, I get the error message that the file C:\windows\system32\expsrv.dll is in use. I have closed everything, so not sure what this one is all about. Any thoughts?

Nice job Brian.

Someone said that you might be making a version for the 296D. Is this true?

Thanks,
D.

My Magic 8 Ball says "yes" ;) . Not due out anytime soon though.

Brian.

Brian,

I commented on your Web site but it didn't show up. Thought I'd post here.

First off, thanks so much for this! I love being able to have a small interface in the corner of the screen. Here are some comments:

You're using the VB setup wizard for your setup program. That has some issues with OLE automation files in that it will try and overwrite those files on OS versions that differ from the version you created the package on. In some cases, that can cause severe problems on the target computer. You'd be better off creating a Windows Installer package and using merge modules so that version checking is performed. You can use the free tools from Microsoft or purchase a product such as Wise (my choice) or InstallShield for more advanced installations.

As I posted in my comment on your site, I'd be happy to create a Windows Installer setup package for you if you'd like. Just message me.

One other issue I encountered. If you minimize the app to the smallest window and then right-click on it and exit, the next time you launch you will get a runtime error and you can't open the app. To fix that, you have to delete the pgm_settings.txt file to go back to the default settings. Thought you might like to know.

Thanks again.

I too have been having this problem. How can we get this corrected?

Would love to get this program working. This looks quite awesome.

All you have to do is just unzip all of the files into a folder and then register the flexgrid ocx. You can then run the EXE.

I downloaded the Beta for the Scannerbase BC246T Advanced Virtual Control (AVC246) Software for Windows. Wow! An awesome program. Will be using this one quite often! I especially enjoy the log feature for when I am in the other room and wonder who I heard talking. =)

Well, I've unzipped it all to another folder and tried it from there. I do see more files now associated to this. But the program is still not installing for me. Not quite sure what to do.

How do I register that file, and where is it? I didn't see it in the zip file.

You don't have to install it. Just double-click on the EXE with the icon that looks like the 246T and it will run.

If you need to register the OCX, look for msflxgrd.ocx. You can register it using regsvr32 from a command line:

regsvr32 msflxgrd.ocx

Hope that helps.
