I retired my "996's" when I got an SDS200 and a G5+... the simulcast is tough to monitor while driving with a "996".
I primarily monitor the Metro, but my service work oftentimes me to Rochester, Duluth, St Cloud and everywhere in between.
Most of the ARMER Law Enforcement is encrypted now, MN State Patol is not encrypted... yet anyway.
So, what's left to monitor is Public Works, EMS, Fire, Railroad and a few of the state parks.

What area or county are you looking to listen in on?

I would not even think of about investing $500-700.00 for a new sdr scanner anymore with all the encryption happening. spend less then 100.00 on 2 rtl-sdr dongles with free sdrtrunk software and not be out 100's when you can't even listen to half the normal traffic anymore. its coming to that everyone. there going county by county slowly.
