I'm looking for some "free" software to manage my 396t. I messed around with the ARC396 Pro and I really like the virtual control feature but $90 seems a bit much. any suggestions?

If your just looking for virtual control check out Scannerbase's Advanced Virtual Control BCD396T (AVC396) and it's FREE

This has been far superior to anything else I have found.

Also note this does not help you with programming, just virtual control.

Free stuff sure is great, until you have a problem. Odds are the support is nonexistant.
Uniden's software may be free, but they're in the business of selling scanners, not software. If they did, they sure as heck will charge you.(But how would it compare to the various product that's already out there?)

p.s.: You are donating to RR, so you are willing to pay for something worthwhile...

We already know that's not true with UASD, Win92, Win93, Win95 and AVC396. So which free software with nonexistant support are you talking about? (And I'm not mentioning the many hours I've spent giving on-line support for the software I offer for free.)

The Virtual Control software from www.scannerbase.com will do virtual control along with logging and recording.

rdale answered the question posed by the OP in the second post of this thread. Gommert corrected the OP's misstatement and then this thread has been sinking. It was left open in hopes that the OP would comment further, but since nothing has come from him, this is closed.
