I have just installed FreeScan and it will not consistently run. When I try to import files from RR, many will import but when there are long lists of groups, it just freezes up, with "not-responding" at the top. It might get 40% or 50% of the download and then freezes. Eventually, it times out saying "Error retrieving data from RR. Verify your internet connection, account status, and try again. Unable to connect to the remote server".

1) There is nothing wrong with my internet. I have connection.
2) The login works.
3) I have a premium subscription.

Something is either wrong with the program or RR.

I'm beginning to think it might be related to this site, as the page doesn't always refresh properly, haning on unloaded images. All the other sites I visit don't have this problem.

Anyone else experience this? Anyone know what might be happening?

Does it hang on the same system each time or different ones? If it's the same one, which one are you trying to import?

Nope! Not the same ones. It appears to have more to do with total download than anything else. If I download part of a system, at a time, I can get it all. But if I try to download an entire set of groups (i.e. a whole county for instance) it might hang.

For example: I tried downloading the entire Pierce county, for Washington. The first time I tried, It hung about 40% of the way through. I tried again a little later and it all loaded. I also had to break the U.S. Government (for WA) one in several attempts to get it all.

When I tried to download Thurston county, in Wa, it hung before it even populated the Group list. I repeated this 3 times and all 3 times hung. On the 4th try, it populated the groups list and I was able to import them.

It's behaving exactly as one might expect, if a server stopped responding.

I just downloaded your entire area with no problems. What version of freescan you using? 2.04 is the latest.

2.04.

The fact you downloaded it, doesn't mean there isn't a problem. I can download them too, occasionally.

I've tried downloading from other sites, to verify my connection. Every other internet connection I make works fine. Only this one hangs. Guess I'll work on it myself and see if I can figure out what's going on. I was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing any problems. Rarely do I expect anyone on a forum to know what's going on with these kind of problems.

I didn't say there wasn't a problem. I was letting you know it worked on my end to help eliminate a server issues. O-well, good luck then.

It's really acting like it is the server. When I click the "View in Browser" button in FreeSCAN, a web page opens up with a tab saying "Connecting..." but it never connects. Sometimes it does connect, sometimes it just hangs in the browser, with the tab showing "Connecting"... It's acting exactly like a server problem.

What kind of an net connection do you have? FreeSCAN isn't compatible with anything other than cable or DSL.

I have a high speed cable.

However, I tried it again today, from work and it's working fine. I haven't tried my home computer since the problems last night. I will try again tonight. It might just have been some temporary condition, on my side or somewhere in the network that was preventing downloading.

I had the same problem until I made sure that I did not have any system expanded. I noticed when I tried saving my file when I had any system or group expanded (open) it would give me the 'not responding'. Now, when I want to save, I make sure that I am not in any particular system and all works. Hope this helps in what you are experiencing.

Thats strange. Perhaps it was just a bottleneck then.

Ae you saving to a network drive? Sometimes that can take longer and make it seem like it is not responding when it is just waiting for the network.
