many years ago ( 10) the alberta government cleared snow off of the highways here in this part of eastern alberta ( vermilion ) then a company called TSM took over and used the same trucks and radio comuncations system. Now a company called Carillion is doing it and I wanted to listen to the guys plowing the snow, its the best real highway report . I looked in TALF for Carillion( they have only a few radios in ONT on 172.400 mhz ) and not any in alberta. But then TALF does not have any for TSM mor the alberta government Highway Does anyone know what fregs are for Carillion?
thanks don henry

Alberta Highways

As far as I understand, they dropped the original VHF system that was in the 138 & 139 range. They then went to the old Telus Tango system which didn't last very long, this reused the frequencies that the Aurora 400 system used when it went off the air. Once Telus Tango was dropped they all switched to Telus Mike. So at this point I am not aware of anyway to monitor the Highways departments for the province.

Carillion

I will talk to the people that work for them here in my town. I trained most of their heavy duty techicains that fix the trucks, and I will use my freg counter. From a distance it looks like a VHF antenna.

Changes

If there have been some changes that would be cool as I enjoyed listening to the old VHF and Tango systems, especially when travelling down the highway. Please do post anything you find. If they are using something different then the frequency hunt starts for the other areas they contract for.
