Well, I've searched the house over for my Radio Shack frequency book, can't find it, couldn't find the frequency I need on here, so I'll just come out and ask if anyone has the frequency for the French Robertson Prison Unit here in Abilene? I want to say 153.9050, but I'm not sure that's it. The new church we joined, the pastor is a captain out there-thought I might catch him talking on the radio. I checked the database for TDCJ, and it wasn't even listed there.

Thanks a bunch-

Thanks so much, Tom! Guess my memory was more there than I thought--153.9050 was it, but I wasn't 100% sure.

Thanks again-

You can find French Robertson unit traffic on their repeater, which is CH 1 in the original statewide plan. It is 154.995 RX, 153.965 TX, PL 100.0. That channel will carry most outside traffic, such as field force, farm and ag, work crews, and transportation folks coming and going. You won't likely find your captain on that channel, but depending on his exact duties maybe. Captains can be over GP Shifts, Admin, Disciplinary, Segregation, and Trusty Camps at large camps. You would be more likely to find him on CH 10, 154.115 PL 100.0, which is the last reported building channel. It is simplex, and portable only, so unless you have a good, tall tower nearby the unit, you aren't likely to hear any building traffic. Building channels are where all the action is. Captains in TDCJ are generally numbered from XX33-XX39, XX being the unit-specific prefix. Robertson Unit numbers start with 66. So, he may be unit 6633, 6634, 6635, 6636, 6637, 6638, or 6639.
Oh, and yes, 153.905 is the statewide simplex travel and relay channel used by radio pickets and traveling transports only, although some field forces use it as a back channel to get off the repeater and BS.

10-4, Rattler! I'm not hearing diddly squat on 153.9050, so will check out those others. I used to hear them doing "count time" on a 153.9050 repeater, but nothing now. F-R is clear across town and out of town, so I doubt I can get the portables. We're not in the best place for reception in this part of town and sometimes, even Taylor County S.O. will fade! Any-who, thanks, and I'll give those other channels a 'shoot'.

The contract prison here in Mineral Wells is on UHF. I don't think they have a high band base station at all (no license anyway) but whenever they have escapes TDCJ comes in with their tracking dogs and stuff and use 153.905 alot.

I know there is a mobile-only statewide license, KZ6245, that allows statewide usage of 153.905 and other frequencies. All TDCJ radio pickets should have a portable radio in addition to their base station. If Mineral Wells doesn't have a VHF base station at wherever their radio control center is, then I would hope that they at least have a couple of TDCJ zoned radios in reserve for situations requiring interops with TDCJ or Palo Pinto County/MWPD. The recent riot and shipping of a chunk of the actors comes to mind.

Well, I've had the 153.9050 slot on the scanner for several days now, and not one peep. They've either got a new channel or just quit talking on that one all together.

Like we said already, 153.905 is the the COMMON channel, or CHANNEL 5. It is only used for unit to unit relays of departing and arriving transports, and pertinent weather information. It is also used as a back channel by field force quite often, but portable only meaning you have to be right up on them to hear it. The Robertson Unit WILL have traffic on 154.995, which is the primary repeater. There should also be traffic on one of the following simplex only channels: 153.755, 153.785, 153.815, 154.055, 154.085, 154.115, 154.980, or 155.025. They are used by all units statewide for security primary and inmate movement. You're most likely bet is 154.115, once again, portables only. That is CH 10 in the channel plan, and is the most recently documented building channel in the statewide radio picket channel-by-unit list.

I dont hear didlysquat on 153.905 95% of the time and I am 20 Miles (give or take) from Choice Moore & Buster Cole units. they sure do hammer 151.9550, 154.9550 and 153.7850 a bunch though. as well as Texas Law-2 154.9500 at Count time. Rattler, tell those Chain Bus Driver to drive between the White line on the right and Yellow line on the left. NOT down the Middle of the Yellow line!!!

I unfortunatly get stuck behind chain busses on Hwy 69 in the mornings. you would think they would feal better with traffic in front of them rather than behind them.

One TDCJ's use of 151.9550 PL: 67.0 Which happens to be a Business band frequency, is this a Temp. frequency untill a new license clears? or will this become a common for the system, statewide?

My Condolences to you folks for the loss of your CO last month. You guys need More tax dollars Allocated aswell, And possibly a little more Civiallian Appriciation.

151.955 is I believe CH 38 in the statewide plan. It has been around for a long time. Used at several units as a building channel in west and east Texas. Kind of like 151.625 PL 100.0, which is used by some units as a private channel for their maintenance guys to chat back and forth about parts and lunch menus without interrupting security ops. The chain buses use 153.905 to communicate with units, and either CH 10, 11 or Texas Law 1 to BS back and forth on the road. I have heard two chain bus guys talking back and forth before about solving a crossword puzzle on CH 10 while driving on I-45.
