It would be really nice to see the RR DB Frequency Search enhanced to allow for partial or range searches.
I think this would be especially nice given the newer 7.5 kHz stepping VHF frequencies that are going online due to narrowbanding. There are a fair amount of older scanners that don't have those steps, so when searching the VHF band they stop on 5 kHz steps instead.
So for example, if you were in the NYC area and you got a search hit on either 153.235 or 153.240 with 82.5 PL, the RR DB would return no results for either. That's because what you were really hearing was Palisades Park PD on 153.2375. Now if your scanner was incapable of that 7.5 kHz step, and you didn't have a chart of what the valid 7.5 kHz steps are, you'd have a tough time figuring it out.
However, if the RR DB accepted 153.23 as a partial frequency during a search, it would've returned 153.2375 as a result.
Likewise, it would be nice to have the ability to search for a range of frequencies. So using the above example, rather than having to run three searches on 153.235, 153.2375 and 153.240, you could run a search for 153.23 <> 153.24 and you'd get a nice list of frequencies within those limits to look through.
Interestingly enough, the database already does something similar to that. If you go to the 'Search FCC Licenses By State' section and type in 153.235 for New Jersey, you get the following:
