I'm in Columbus, GA. I measured 3" of dry snow, so dry, I couldn't make snowballs or build a snowman. Anyway, our infrastructure doesn't include snow plows, salt or anything to make the roads drivable. Not a problem for me. I stayed home. Apparently, the entire city government, except public safety, stayed home, too.

The problem wasn't the snow as much as it was the low temperatures. The snow melted when it hit the streets but the temperature this morning was 18° so the melted snow became ice. I didn't drive but I walked out to the street and it was like walking on snot. Everything's fine and Mother Nature will probably let us undo the "hold" button tomorrow.

This 3" was nothing compared to '73. We had 16" of snow in less than 24 hours inducing a serious case of municipal paralysis. That was okay, too. I could make snowballs and build a snowman then.

I'm here near Biloxi but was supposed to head to the New Orleans Lakefront Airport tomorrow for an FAA test...well, the testing center is closed and the guy who answered their phone was working from home with 10 inches of snow and frozen/burst pipes in his house. I-10 bridge is still going to be closed tomorrow and I guess I'm rescheduled for next week.

Too bad because I'd built a codeplug around the airport to look for new and interesting things.
