White blob south of Boulder is estimated over 10"
NEXRAD just about always has a false return in the area of the "white blob". It's about 3200' SE of Eldorado Mtn at 39.9097 x 105.2845 at about 7300'. Right now it has about a 31 DBz return.

It acts like a passive microwave reflector near the railroad ROW, but it wanders around maybe 1000-2000'. Maybe that's typical location error in NEXRAD. It's usually in between Coal Creek Peak and Eldorado Mtn even on a perfectly clear day with 7 or 8% RH. Oddly it never plots to one of the three mountain peaks in the area.

You can't believe everything you see on NEXRAD.

It did rain an awful lot in that area however.

No one has mentioned it yet...
The primary VHF frequencies used in Boulder County for this incident are:
RED 6 - 154.3700 CTS 131.8 (repeater)
YELLOW 2 - 155.9250 CTS 123.0 (repeater)
MRA2 - 155.235 CTS 225.7
I am occasionally hearing traffic on various VFIRE channels (FERN)

Also, the Union Pacific Moffat Subdivision track has been wiped out in places. I've heard traffic that Tunnel #16 collapsed. (160.455)

Maybe NREL? Wind turbines, plus a rather tall tower that looks like a radio tower.
