Hi,
I have a US model Yaseu FT-60R that must be charged in the cradle. The cradle is model SBH-13, with an AC adapter model PA-48B.
The PA-48B DC output plug fits the radio directly, and the radio shows 11.7V when plugged into it (close to the nominal 12V output of the PA-48 AC adapter). The manual however on page 9 states that the PA-48 is not designed to be used to directly power the radio (despite being the correct plug and within the 6V-16V accepted input range). Does anyone know why Yaesu would warn against using the supplied AC-DC plug to power the radio via DC?
There is a note saying that the PA-48 "may contribute noise to TV and radio reception in the immediate vicinity" - is the "not designed for use" just a disclaimer, and assuming no noise is present, would it be fine to use this for powering the HT directly? Or do I really need to go an find another DC power source for directly powering this radio when used at home?
