A friend was playing with my 991-A and hit some keys that reset the radio. In the process, he also knocked out my extended VHF/UHF tuning. It is (was) the U.S. version, but the receiver seems to have reverted to the European version. Does anyone know how to restore the extended VHF and UHF reception on this unit. Thank you.

Incidentally, a call to Yaesu today was fruitless--- all there techs are at the Hamfest.

Have you tried a factory reset? Save your memories first.

Yes I did, but to no avail. I'm starting to get the impression for others who I spoke to in the same situation that the radio might have to go back to Yaesu for them to re-flash the firmware. I will check with Yaesu on Monday.

On a side note, although it was too late to save my memories when this issue occurred, I did download FTRestore so that I hopefully will not have to go through reprogramming again. One of the shortcomings of the FT-991A is that Yaesu did not include a means of backup via a SD card slot or the like.
