Hello all,

Just finished installing my antenna yesterday and made my first FT8 QSO ever this evening. WSJT-X allows you to log QSO's but i cant find a way to look at the log in a GUI. What are you guys using to log your FT8 QSO's ? Their must be something that integrates weel with WSJT ?

Many thanks

I normally do not watch my log as I go, but during the contest last weekend I did and it logged automatically in a separate window. I will take a look and see what I did to display that window.

Ahhh...okay I see why it appeared now. I went to File > Settings and the selected the "Reporting" tab. I then selected "Log automatically (contesting only)". Which does what it says. The next part was under the "Advanced" tab where I checked "Special operating activity" and then the NA VHF contest option...Thus, the window appeared because I selected a contest.

Perhaps submit that as a feature request, but there may be too much overhead for a large month, year, years long log to be open versus a 24 hour contest log. If you do request and get a reply, follow up on this thread please.

A majority of the hams worldwide using FT8 / FT4 log their QSOs via LotW (Logbook of the World) which also confirms your QSOs and provides you with a sortable / searchable record of countries, states, bands, and modes -

It is possible to use JTAlert to have WSJT-X automatically log into LotW. But rather than run another piece of software I just periodically import the wsjt_log.adi that is in the WSJT-X directory into the TQSL application that comes with and is used to upload to LotW. It can also display and edit QSOs before you upload. Using LotW also gets you (sometimes instant) QSLs once the other station makes entry to LotW. Another "accessory" app you may want to use with FT8 is GridTracker which can also read the LotW db -

Checkout GridTracker. It’s a companion app for wsjt-x and it’s amazing. Also lets you look at your FT8 contacts with search.
It makes FT8 way more fun with love maps and tons of features. This app should be publicized much more with wjst

Thanks for the info. I went thru the WSJT documentation and it says that logging is not really a feature they will put their efforts on. I'm ok with that as long as there are alternatives. LOTW and GridTracker seems to be one of them .
