• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm have a bit of an issue with a talkgroup that is NOT programmed getting through during Normal Trunking Talkgroup Scan. It is an encrypted talkgroup, so you can imagine how annoying this can be.

I was reading about the wildcard 65535 and this made me wonder. The system I am listening to uses patched supergroups in the 65xxx area. If by chance, this particular 65535 supergroup is used, could that open the radio to receive talkgroups that are NOT programmed for normal talkgroup scan?

When this happens, and I start hearing the encrypted tgid, I can only reprogram the radio to get rid of the offending tgid.

Is there a way to set the G4 to not receive the patched supergroups? Or can the radio be set to mute encrypted transmissions.

If you have a TG programmed in normally, and its part of the patched TG, then it will pass all the audio of the other TG that are patched.

If one of the other patched TG has encryption unfortunately your out of luck as the TG you have programmed in is part of the patched group.

Example.
If you are monitoring TG 5.
System has TG 2, 5 and 8.
TG 8 has encryption.
Because 5 is a TG you have programmed in, and is now part of the patch, you will get any audio from TG 8 as well.

The "new" TG you are seeing is what the system is showing as the patched TG. Its temporary and when the patch is gone the new TG is gone as well.

Is this a Harris system by any chance?

Yes, It is a Harris System. You're explanation makes sense. The patched talk groups are used for fire and ems dispatches, I'm taking it from you're explanation that these patches are system wide which is why I would be seeing the encrypted PD talk group.

I'm guessing this is normal for a Harris system? It's my first Harris system.
