• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have had a G4 now for about 3 years. Never been really wet, and only cleaned it with q-tips. About 3 days ago, it started to cut off and on. it will come on and go to the
scanning screen then cut off after a few seconds. It will even display the unication start up screen when its cut off. Computer won't even recognize it. I bought it straight from Unication and not a dealer. I did remove the battery to try to reset it. Nothing works. Am i looking at getting another pager or do yall think unication would be able to fix it?

Have you tried cleaning the battery contacts, does it work off usb power? Maybe the cable is bad?

Not sure about the powering off and on issue? Maybe try to leave the battery out all night and see what happens, idk? One time before mine stayed locked on the Unication boot up screen. At the same time experienced the part where the computer won't recognize it also. What I did was to try another cabe. In my case a Samsung Galaxy cable worked. I was able to get it connected and downloaded the saved file I had which fixed both issues.

I agree with K6LEH. After 3 years it is most likely the battery.

My first thought is dead battery too. Mine is just coming up on two years, and still holds enough charge for about 12 hours of operating, but I know that it's days are numbered.

When it does work what is the battery level at? If your computer wont recognize it maybe its not charging properly. How do you charge it? By using cable and plugging it into a computer? or a usb hub? or a usb wall charger? drop in desktop charger?
Is your battery swollen?

Try doing the 3 button reset. Hold the 2 buttons on the upper left side and the button on the channel knob all at the same time. If successful, it will come up to the Unication screen with dots changing color from left to right. It is not easy to do.
