If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

In the PPS Tab D 5 Group ID Setting. This is where you create talk groups with names.
Once you do this then in D 6 after you have created a channel you would select what talk groups you want to monitor.
In Receiving Mode you must have selected Trunking TG-Monitor. This is like using a wild card. If you select Trunking TG-Scan it will only pass audio on the TG you have selected below in your Priority or Non Priority TG list.

Is there a step for G5 to show the actual Talk groups/UIDs which are programed in the Tab6 ? I am able to see the unit descriptions .I E Fire Dept) however the G5 indicate FMxxxxxx for the UIDs.
Thanks

To get the talkgroups you added in D5 to show, when you are setting up your Zones/Knobs in D6 , they need to be added to the knob position. Note that "Trunking TG-Monitor" is like ID SEARCH on a Uniden scanner... it will show programmed talkgroups, but will monitor EVERY active talkgroup on the system. Trunking TG-SCAN will do JUST the talkgroups you have selected to be on there.

Example of mine...

To add UIDs in, it's under "Member List Setting" on Tab D5. Note there is no way to import a list or anything... tedious process if you're trying to add a whole fleet in of a large system.

OK. New question. Is there a way I can delete the talk group list? Say I want to program multiple counties. And for one county I want certain areas assigned to specific knob positions. Instead of looking through EVERYTHING I have in the talk group list already, I want to delete everything in there then load just the tgids I'm looking for.

No , all of the talk groups of programmed sites and systems are collected together . Then you can assign talk groups to each zone from there . This indeed a PPS shortcoming .

All TGIDs for all systems show up in one list, as @blackbelter said, you just need to go through them on RR or in your list before hand and map out what you want to add on each knob. You'll find taking a few minutes to plan what you want where will really make it easier.

Mapping out what I want and where has already been done. I"m just trying to avoid having to go through 300 tgid's to find the ones I want.

As I have multiple state and local systems, I have a few extra TGs to go through, like ten times the number you have, but when I make the list of the TGs I want to add to a knob it goes a lot quicker when I have the TG number listed and I can scroll right to it.
