• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

G5+ does not reference MDC call list

I just recently placed a G5+ into service (FW 2.03). Originally transferred an existing code plug from a G5 (FW 1.35) with same band split into the new G5+. Everything works fine, except my MDC protocol channels do not display the Caller ID as programmed in my group list. To explain, my 4 dispatch consoles are assigned MDCs 1001-1004 for our analog fire channels, and the same IDs for our police P25 conventional frequencies. When active on the fire channel, the decimal equivalent displays (my display settings are set for decimal private ID/system). It will not display the name associated in the call ID list. However, on the police P25 channels, it does display the name, Dispatch 1, Dispatch 2, etc. Seeing issues on the board here that importing a code plug sometimes causes issues, I did a factory reset of the G5+ and started with a clean file, manually entered all the programming, same results. I also exported the caller ID list into CSV format from the working G5 code plug, imported into the G5+ code plug, no change. Changed the pager settings to display HEX, again, fire MDC channels display the HEX code (1001, 1002) and does not pull the name from the call ID list. Police P25 channels still work appropriately, displaying the associated ID name. Curious if anyone has experience with the new G5+ models that utilize the Caller ID and experience the same, if worth kicking up to Unication as a bug. TIA.
