• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Just have to be a little creative with your knob positions. On the systems I monitor I break them up. Position 1 is what I label as primary, This is will usually be the Dispatch talkgroups of the services I want to Monitor. Then the next knob position is Fire, Police, Events, and Interops
Yeah, that's what I am trying to do. I made one for Sim G, which includes all the local PD dispatches that aren't encrypted and PFD dispatch and talkgroups.

Only thing I wish I could do, is combine Systems on one knob, then I would be all set.

If there was a way to combine RWC and TOPAZ in to one knob, man oh man...

Perhaps the #1 requested feature from the scanning fans. I however understand " The more you scan the less you hear" process.

Yeah, we all wish there was a way to tell it a TGID (or a list of TGIDs) and then have it check multiple different sites (control channels) for those TGIDs. The other big wish-for is a scan delay, so it doesn't keep hopping to other TGs without waiting a few seconds for a reply first.

But that's why "it's a pager, not a scanner", as they say. The device was really mainly meant to sit on one channel and unmute when fire dispatch tones are heard.

I listened for few days and it quickly became obvious which talk groups I listened to and in what order. After that all I had to do was rank them in order of importance to me.
In (Don't yell!) the "old" software and I would assume in the "new" software as well, you can rank talk groups as Priority and Non-priority.
Simply place your priority talk groups (in order of priority) in the priority box and everything else in the non priority-box ranked by priority if you are type A like me.
Your Unication will be about as close to a scanner as it's going to get at that point. You will still need to manually pause (if needed I rarely do) the unit. My G4 will jump over to the priority talkgroup almost every time with the setup I have described. Good Luck!
