Please excuse my ignorance if these are stupid questions, but can FCSO be monitored on a G4/G5?

Is the utilization of DMR pre-MARCS IP? I have always monitored FCSO on an analog Pro-107 prior to their switch to MARCS-IP, so I don't understand the DMR reference on the source above. Is MARCS-IP DMR? I wouldn't think so, as I've read that the G4 can monitor Columbus PD.

I'm looking at buying the G5 400-470 UHF model so I can hear CPD, FCSO, Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, Lancaster, etc. I'm in Violet Township, and my TRX-1 isn't up to par.

DMR was pre-MARCS. They were planning to move to that but found it insufficient to their needs, so they decided to go to MARCS along with county fire. Pretty much all of Central Ohio for two counties in any direction from Franklin County is now on MARCS, except Delaware County and their minions.

You should have no problem monitoring Fairfield Co SO on the G5. The only issue you might have is the fact that you can only monitor one site at a time; Fairfield SO and Pickerington PD would be on MARCS sites, but Violet Twp FD would be on the Columbus City site.

Thanks again for the help here. Just for anyone else reading, though, I believe Pickerington PD is still 100 percent on analog UHF, as I can still hear all of their transmissions on the Pro-107.

I listen to the Fairfield Co SO off the MARCS Christmas Rock site with a G4. Comes in real clear in Grove City and Columbus.

Excellent. Just purchased the G5 UHF 400-470. Does anyone know if there is there an example or template file available for local programming?

Hi Folks,
Have followed this thread as I am having issues hearing the MARCS-IP system in Columbus.
I was staying up in the Dublin area, and entered just the Columbus MARCS site. Site 16
I believe (hex id 10). It shows full strength. Trying to listen to Columbus and Franklin Co Fire.
No luck. Here calls going out on the scanner app. Any help would be appreciated.
My G5 has the latest firmware upgrade to P2 which doesn’t matter here,
But it is current.

Thanks

For Columbus fire you will need Site 10 Columbus City, not Columbus MARCS
