• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I posted this on the Unication G-Series Voice Pager Users Facebook page a couple months ago. The problem seemed to correct itself for about a month, but now it's back and worse than before:

About 90% of the time, turning the pager on gives me a black screen (dead, no audio, unresponsive buttons) and the red LED will come on and stay on, even when powering the pager off. Sometimes a single 3-button reset procedure gets it running again, other times it takes a dozen or more 3-button resets. Sometimes a combination of a 3-button reset and putting it in the desktop charger seems to get it working again, other times not. Sometimes when it does boot up, the screen does funky things - flickers, goes all white, garbled text, etc. I've tried the battery-out hard reset procedure; sometimes it works, sometimes not. And sometimes it works fine for a day or 2, until it doesn't again. The frustrating thing is it just happened out of nowhere - I didn't update the firmware, change the programming, nothing.

Installing a new battery and updating the firmware to 2.02 didn't fix it. The pager is about a year out of warranty.

I just filled out a repair ticket with my dealer. Will update this post when the problem is (hopefully) resolved. Hoping this thread serves as a resource for someone in the future...

Sorry you are having issues with your pager.

Have a G4 bought new over 4 years ago and G5 bought used about 2 years ago. Both have been rock solid. Don't have the latest firmware on mine, as just using for hobby use and I see no need to upgrade with them doing what I need.

I just had to send a G4 in for a flakey toggle button, hopefully it will be back soon and we'll see how they did. It was days away from being out of warranty so hopefully they'll take care of it and all will be well. I have 2 G5's from probably 2019 I bought "well used" last September, and (knock on wood) those seem to be doing fine thus far. Good luck on your repair.

Had a similar issue with mine and it eventually failed and wouldn't boot, I had to send my unit in to get fixed. A buddy of mine suggested to downsize my file and ensure you use a good reliable USB cable (the one it came with) and now I don't have any issues at all. But I had to start from scratch and only put the necessary things I would monitor and not treat it as a SDS.
