• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Is there a way to add specific radio ID's into the trunk systems?
So i make.. radio ID 2200 as dispatch and it will show that on the screen rather then just the 2200

Help menu suggest there is such a option yet i cant seem to find how to do it

And does anyone els have an issue where everything is very very slow? Like changing the channel, or changing zones is very very delayed. Even worse when you have voice files assigned to each channel. Curious if its just mine or a common thing with these

How slow is slow? My G5 can take a brief moment to react if I switch the channel while it is receiving audio. Probably not more than a second or two at most.

I think everyone has the slow issue especially if comparing it to a scanner. I just got mine 7 days ago, or 8 days ago now since it's Christmas Day officially where I'm at, and I was wondering if I was having a problem at first. I don't know if it runs off of RAM or what but it does have a sluggishness to it and everyone I've talked to said the same thing. I have noticed that it seems to start operating a little faster as I start using it more or have it on for longer. It's nothing I can't live with and I do use the voice prompts also because I'm legally blind. It doesn't always announce the full word due to its sluggishness though. If I have it on something like "Trunking Scan" being announced it might just say "King scan" or sometimes "Can" :)

The voice prompts will announce erratically or not at all if a transmission is coming in on the knob position when you switch to it. I just started useing voice prompts and I noticed this right away.

I believe the pager's receiving a message overrides announcements and attempts to change zones. This is probably due to it's design to receive emergency dispatches for fire and EMS personnel.

Ill make a video later today and see if its the same as everyone els.. But just seems god awful slow to me.
Same with the power up, takes an ice age to turn on.

Maybe im use to "normal" pagers like minitor 6's n such and 2 way radios.

It does seem to scream out the voice announcement on the channel im on at random times once in a while too, but that isnt a common thing what so ever. But does happen

AS for firmware im running the latest off unications site. Iv had this since the summer time and has done it ever since.

Of course this is the 1st time it has powered up this fast. Maybe because it was already on is why it booted up at the snap of a finger.
Ill try having it off for a bit and see if it does its normal slow boot up

The response to a change in the volume know is quite slow, but otherwise I have not noticed any issues.
