• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Ok, so one department out of 20 in my county bought some G5 pagers and said they didn't really like them because they cant page for their station and cannot scan or do anything they thought it could. So I started doing some research and found that they should do all those things and more. I bought four of them and copied their program on to my pagers and then contacted unication support to see why tones were not activating on VHF. Its been about 2 weeks and between them and my 911 director trying to read a minitor VI and send unication support the info...i have gotten no where.

This is what I have and what I need. The 800 side works great, we have all the fire channels and all that trunking stuff down pat and know how to change it. The VHF side is not the same. When you switch it over, and its on Fire Dispatch Monitor frequency channel 1 where you would hear anything over VHF it is silent. If you are at a VHF radio and key the mic, you see the little bars on the screen light up but do not hear anything. I have had the tones set off several times and you never hear any tones or talking. I have attached the screenshot if that helps. You would think they would want to get this fixed for me so they could sell more pagers because the reason no one wants them is because they do not page on VHF for the two departments that have them, even though they tell me they will. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, they sent me a file I guess it was in notepad to install in the program and then onto the pager which I did, but it will not let me attach it here to this post. Would that help if you could see that?

Send the zone/key for the VHF position, or please email me the codeplug and I'll take a look. phil@eastcoastpagers.com
I'm a Unication dealer and will be more than happy to take a look at your codeplug and give you a hand with the troubleshooting

Also check the times on two tone protocol. I ran until issues a few months ago after upgrading firmware that changed the default times to something else. Result was we had members missing pages.

I agree support sucks right now. I got two that will not tone out in silent scan or scan two channels in monitor mode. However going to the individual channel works fine. Emailed support multiple times with no response.

Yeah, support was weird, when I got the first response back, it was Cc:'d to like 4 other people and everytime I got something, those same people were getting it but I never heard from them.

You will find the information we are all requesting on tabs 3 and 6. In tab 6, you will need to double click into the knob position that has your vhf programmed

@W4ZWA , if you want to send me your CP, I'll take a look at that too.

@Flash3102, I see something that looks very obvious. The tones you setup for the P25 talk group do not match the tones you setup for the conventional channel.

1. P25 Tones are 346.5 x 426.6 but the Conventional tones seem to be 346.9 (close enough) x 525. Why 525? Should be 426
2. Also, you said the VHF does not receive at all. Does it receive in Monitor Mode? If not, your PL Code is incorrect.
3. Your Two Tone is setup for User Define. Why is that? Why are you deviating from the default settings?

Your P25 settings are setup for "Call Alert". I usually setup the binding differently so the pager acts like a standard pager (like the Minitor's).

I'm going to make some quick changes and send back the CP file to you.

I think the CTCSS for 154.2200 is wrong per the database?

You programmed a life saving device with PL codes from this site, then blame Unication for not fixing an issue. Genius.

I dont know if u solved it or not, but it does indeed sound like a PL/DPL issue. Make sure those are correct. And also make sure the 2 tones a & b are correct as well. Also make sure youre on monitor and not selective call.
