If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

G5 VHF Randomly Rebooting

I have a G5 VHF on the latest firmware (2.0.2).

Recently, it will randomly "reboot". I say reboot because it'll be on my hip and it'll just call out the voice for "Fire Dispatch" that I have programmed on that knob position. It's been on this firmware since it was released and worked fine for months until this started happening.

I works perfectly fine otherwise, except it did it once in the middle of a page, so I missed what the call was.

Has anyone seen this before? Could it just be the battery needs to be replaced?

From past posts or reports on this problem it often times has turned out to be battery related, you might try removing the battery and cleaning the contacts then ensure it is properly reinstalled, otherwise a new battery might be needed.

Thanks. I have a new battery on the way from Ray's. It's probably about time anyway.
I'll try cleaning and reseating it as well.

I find if I drop mine or it's on my belt and takes a shake or bump it does it. Never thought much about it. I think I'll give my contacts a check. The pagers are both older but the batteries are less than 6 months. They both have done it.

If it continues after ruling out a battery issues, I'd contact support.

I've experienced this behavior too. I was able to send support a log and they were able to identify the firmware issue.

I've cleaned the contacts and reseated the battery. Still having issues.
New battery should arrive soon. Hopefully that fixes it.

I'm way out of warranty, so not sure how much help they'll give me, but I'll try it if it persists.

I changed the battery a few days ago, it still happens.

It doesn't appear that it's fully rebooting, it's just acting like the knob is being switch to the active position, even though the knob isn't moving.

I've sent a message to Unication support, but I'm out of warranty. Maybe it'll be a firmware issue.
