My condolences to the family and friends of Steve. Although I never met him in person,
we talked many time through this board and the Ohio MARCS group. He will be greatly missed.

I hate to see this. He had helped me on tower project in his county, and we had been discussing narrowbanding on a mailing list - and how it was going to affect his Fire Departments.

He was a good one.

Wow, sad, sad, news. I talked with him quite a few times here on the boards and watched his countdown to retirement in his sig line for the last few years. It's not fair, he didn't even get to enjoy retirement :(

RIP man..

I was shocked when I saw the headline. I chatted with Steve a few times on here and he was as nice as could be. Rest in peace.

I always enjoyed reading Steve's posts on here and am saddened that he will not be posting again. Obviously a nice guy who dedicated his career to public service. RIP.

I was shocked when a friend posted Steve's obituary on NENA's 9-1-1 listserv. I always enjoyed reading his posts, here and in the other forums. Not only did he serve his community, Steve took the time to interact with us, always in a helpful and factual way, a model for us all. Like some other people observed, I watched his retirement countdown, too, and was rooting for the day he'd be enjoying a tropical climate, watching the waves rolling in, an exotic drink in one hand and his scanner in the other, listening to other people at work. Hope he's there now. 73 OM -- KB8FAR-SK.

A Public Servant

Did not know this gentleman, but based on the comments he must have been a true public servant.
God Bless his family - and all of you who serve and protect.

Lindsay or Wayne - on another forum I belong to, when a member passes, their user account is labeled with a custom title such as "RIP (date)" etc and locked down in memoriam. Any thoughts of doing something like that?
