Game & Fish Commissions

I noticed on the Arkansas page in the db that it was showing a recent update to the Game and Fish Commission page (was yellow) so I clicked on it to see what had changed. Didn't see anything on the page highlighted yellow so I checked the Change History to see what it said. Shows the description changed on 1/29/2024.

However, the description is a long narrative about how the old analog system worked. To my knowledge that system is no more and they are exclusively AWIN (plus county radios in the counties they patrol if said county is not on AWIN). Is that incorrect? Is the old analog still active? I might could see some analog truck-to-truck traffic in certain areas when they are working something and either can't hit AWIN well or want to just keep it local, but my understanding is they are dispatched and handle official traffic on their AWIN talkgroups.

I'm not sure what in the description was changed from the old to the current but I'm thinking that page should mostly just disappear except for the link to AWIN with a note "Arkansas Game and Fish Commission uses this system" instead of "also uses".

Am I wrong on this? Are they still using the old analog, as well, in some areas?

As far as I know, their old analog is decommissioned and out of service. They had listed loads of their old Kenwood radios and repeaters on govdeals a year or so ago. Radio to radio is likely through 7/800 direct (simplex) frequencies.

All I did was adjust the "statewide" area of coverage (coordinates, lat/long and range). Across the database we have a lot of wrong data. Some that have never been updated and just has zeros. Some are too big, some are too small and some don't cover the area they serve correctly.

That text was going to go to a WIKI page, just to have as reference if ever needed. I don't like flat out deleting information, you never know where it might come in handy. (Currently no wiki page set up)

But if the page needs deleted and/or any info can be moved to another page, just let me know.

If they are changed to Deprecated maybe that would help?

I'm just thinking about people coming across it and thinking they are going to hear AGFC on it when they won't.

Maybe a note at the top of that page to just say it's the old system?

I understand the desire to save it for posterity sake.

The VHF analog system is decommissioned. They took their repeaters out of AWIN Clearlake tower and KZHE FM tower, and I am sure they did others as well.
