Does anyone hear pirate station 88.3 in the Glendale area? The broadcasts are RARE and consist of what seem to be drunken ramblings and hip-hop..........i almost forgot about that station until i saw this headline

"FCC and Sheriff's gang unit bust a pirate radio operation that was broadcasting public service announcements on where to find the best hookers and blow"

This Headline is from Fark.com, a weird news aggregator. The REAL article that this Fla. officials shut down pirate radio station they say broadcast info on drugs, prostitutes headline refers to is located at:

Out of all the bands I search, I keep forgetting about the AM/FM dial. I would guess that there are a few "Pirates" around here.

Ah memories.

My high school in Ca had an FM station on campus, and every member of the tech crew had his own pirate station at home. The campus station signed off at 10PM, and one of them would often sign on after they shut down. Once someone let them into com site on Mt. Diablo, and they put up a repeater of sorts. It had a considerable coverage area. The input was also in the FM broadcast band, and the stereo pilot was used to activate the transmitter.

Great catch, SAM. Keep us posted if these guys on 88.3 come back, or you hear any others.
