DATE: 5-29-08
TIME: 6:25 A.M.
LOCATION: I-70 Westbound lanes at milepost 68 approximately 7 miles west of Parachute, CO. ( Garfield County)
On 5-29-08 at approximately 1:15 A.M. Troopers responded to the westbound lanes of I-70.
A white Toyota MR2 two door was traveling eastbound on the westbound lanes of I-70. The vehicle struck a blue Honda four door that was traveling westbound on the westbound lane of I-70 in a head-on manner.
Both vehicles rotated counter clockwise after impact and came to final rest on their wheels on the roadway. The Toyota came to rest facing in a westerly manner and the Honda came to rest in an easterly manner.
Both drivers are adult males and both were pronounced dead on the scene by the Garfield County Coroner, and at this time have not been identified.
I-70 has just recently been reopened.
Alcohol, drugs and speed are unknown contributing factors at this time.
This incident is still under investigation.
