I hit the various NOAA WeatheRadio transmitter frequencies around Raleigh a couple times in the last few days. WNG706 Garner 162.4500 MHz has been a dead air/no audio carrier for a couple days. Listened tonite and it's still out there, not even a hint of modulation.

Any one here know when it stopped transmitting audio?

Color me surprised that there is no 'no audio coming from Forecast office' circuit to turn off the transmitter. Was a standard feature on the old old tube-final transmitters from 20+ years ago

If you ever run across it transmitting a carrier with no audio for more than a few minutes, call the Raleigh NWS forecast office and let them know. This happened where I live and I called Wakefield and they had been unaware.

I listen to this station regularly, and it's a normal occurrence, I noticed that the audio drops out almost weekly nowadays. Definitely sounds like it could be a hardware issue at the site.

My place of work is maybe 1/4 mile from the WRAL tower where the antenna is, even with a good receiver radio(I use an HT1250), there's still some fluttering and static in the signal. I can't find any info about the transmitter power levels on it.
