The way it's looking they will be, the only reason why they was no in the clear originally is because Land Air has a requirement to secure comms 🤦🤷

The Sevierville Police Department currently has portable radios sitting unused at their office, awaiting the eventual switch to TACN. These radios were originally intended to support both Land Air and TACN communications; however, they are currently only operational on TACN due to an error, as I understand it. The Officers were already supposed to have some of the new radios for TACN. Additionally, I noticed in the City Council Minutes that an order for more radios was placed two to three months ago for the transition to TACN.

Their Talkgroup they have been testing with are not encrypted they have not done much testing recently but if I can identify any talkgroups the county uses I will get them submitted to the database

I'm barely in the coverage area of Greentop and Unitrunker is showing 36 TGIDs in the 480## range that have seen traffic. Unfortunately, only 9 of those TGIDs have been positively identified. There's not a ton of traffic on the unidentified TGs. Sporadic testing, I suppose.

I'm 5x5 on the Knox Simulcast system, although it's a tad weird IMHO in how it lets other localities affiliate (Blount, usually yes?; Sevier, yes for at least Pigeon Forge traffic)

GPD has had TACN for 3 years waiting on the tower site to get completed in there city. They have 3 TG’s and is fully encrypted! They have been testing the system with the LTE smart connect. They are using Motorola Apx Next for portables and APX 8500 for there mobiles. They are currently still useing Kenwood Nexedge trunking System that they are happy to get rid of.
