Thanks for the update.

Regarding Gomez Peak, I have monitored it on many occasions. I have never heard any traffic on it. Who can access it? Is it assigned to any agencies?

I recorded TG 50007 DPS on it today. All the way from Wink to add. I’ve started to catch a few 504XX talkgroups which sound like TXDOT on some of the west Texas towers as well out this way, but not on Gomez Peak or Orla yet. Notrees 800 and VHF are still silent as well.

Okay, thanks. I traveled from Van Horn to Pecos and back to Van Horn today. I did not turn that system back on in my BCD996P2 today. Now I wish I had done so. I will turn it back on and start listening again. Thank you for the information and the quick reply.

Notress still silent, but I've got testing counts on 42753 which seems to be in the hospitals grouping, and a lot of ENC traffic on 42656 earlier today. Both on Odessa site.

Thank you for the diligent work, very good information.

What equipment do you use for such monitoring? I assume a scanner and maybe a computer? If so, what software do you use? Any other operating tips you may have are welcome. Thanks.

BCD436HP is my every day traveling scanner. Both talk groups above were noticed on there and I ran discovery mode on the odessa tower for a while today. I use an SDR and DSD+ Fastlane for more in depth looks at how the systems are set up. It works for DMR systems of all flavors, NexEdge systems, IDAS, P25 Phase 1 and 2, and I can even monitor TDMA control channels on the AEP system. Quite a useful tool to grow the database here properly.

FWIW, I wouldn’t think that Scenic Mountain is being heard as the Big Spring site is still down. Midland Memorial didn’t want to play, no radio there.
STRAC at SAT has these TGs in their consoles.
Noticed the NWS AUS/SAT TG is active on this layer. As is NWS MAF on 42690.

Duh. Every hospital has a dedicated TG. And each hospital has all hospital TGs. Just wasn’t THAT hospital.
