Since Genesee County went encrypted, what are folks listening to these days?

Just hoping to find something to liven up the evening listening.

The whole county didn't go encrypted, just almost all of the police and the local fire talkgroups did. The countywide fire dispatch and firegrounds and most of the EMS, as well as public works (parks and recreation, road commission, drain commission) are still in the clear. Also MSP, DNR, MDOT are still in the clear too. Also there's railroads, air (civilian and military), ham repeaters, Consumers Energy, businesses. Still plenty to listen to out there. Check out my website for everything all in one place.

I have them on 464.425 but the license was cancelled in 2014.

Well, on my PRO-668, i can hear the digital 'razz' buzzing every so often when i listen to it on the analog 464.425 frequency in the morning and afternon, which leads me to think its part of the MPSCS now.

Understand that same frequency is listed in the database 464.425 and is shown as DMR - Digital Mode Radio for Fenton. The audio in your video is the sound made by Mototrbo radios. Here is a sample -

You can do this with your Pro668 and give it the ability to decode Mototrbo digital -

Based on the info above, I did a search for 464.425 on the FCC site for genesee county, only one that showed up was Fenton as shown above.

I also did a full genesee county search and there is no listing showing Lakeville. When that happens, just my assumption they likely have moved to a large trunked radio system, but probably not MPSCS as they have contracted out their radios. Granted there are a handful of schools on MPSCS but the normal route is to go onto a large business radio system. This is where its so advantageous for locals to find out where agencies are and if the database is incorrect, let us know with a submission to update the database.

Other thing is clear, the database thats in your radio currently is out of date and you need to attach to computer and get it updated, including the 668's firmware. Thats where sending it in to whistler to upgrade would take care of those items.

Thank you! Im shipping it out soon! And as the radio goes, Yes, the LakeVille FCC License is expired, but i think they just took the existing frequency and probably somewhere have it licensed to Dean Transportation (LakeVille's transportation provider).

I'm not finding any Dean Transportation licenses for Genesee Co but when you get your radio back, try plugging in the Electro-Pro system and see if you hear them on that.

Alright... I got my PRO-668 back from Whistler, and DMR works great. Now, Heres the thing, I heard LakeVille Bus Drivers talk about kids coming outside to start tapping trees for Sugar Bush on 464.425000 DMR, And yes, I know their license had expired in 2013, but, their the only school that does sugar bush. The only other school with 464.425000 on DMR is Fenton, and thats way too far south for me to pick up (NW Lapeer County). Plus, their use of Dodge Rd and Irish Rd also helped me become more confident.
