One dead, one jailed after alleged hit and run accident

One person is dead, another is behind bars and three more were taken to the hospital after a hit and run accident at the intersection of 30 and D 1/2 Roads, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
The accident occurred around 5:49 p.m. Sunday.
The name of the person killed has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
According to police a red Nissan attempting to turn left was struck by a passing Ford F-150 pickup. The driver of the Nissan was later pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital, police said.
Three other juveniles in the Nissan were also taken to the hospital, police said.
The Ford left the crash scene, but the driver was later contacted and arrested, police said.
Brandon Walton, 25, was booked into the Mesa County Jail for suspicion of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, DUI and hit and run, police said.
