Glendale PD from Northridge

Hi -

To those of you familiar with the Glendale PD system. I've relatively sure I've programmed all the data correctly, but I'm only receiving the noise you typically hear when you set to a non-anolog frequency.

I'm located in Northridge. Not too terribly far from Glendale, but not too close either. Could it be that I'm not in range? (I did hear a brief conversation by one of the radio tech guys, which may have been on an anolog freq.)

I used the data in the RR database:

I set the type to Motorola Type II UHF.
I set the base, spacing and offset.
I set all the frequencies in the order listed. (tried only glendale and with Oat Mountain as well)
I entered all the talk group data.

Is there something simple I'm missing? Many thanks for helping out a newbie.

Oh yeah, I'm using the BC250D with the digital card.

Nope. When the train accident happen, I was in Sylmar and had my radio available. Unfortunately, I must have cleared out the bank. I'm going to try again and take a drive to Glendale to determine whether its distance or a programming error.

You won't have any issue monitoring them in Northridge, the Oat Mtn. site is right above your head. I've picked them up several times out here.

I just recently programmed Glendale's trunked system and it works fine. I'm in Burbank, but programmed in the Oat Mountain freqs also.

I can't say I've seen the conversations stop on any of the Oat Mt. freqs. It could be that this will be more utilized when Burbank and the other cities become part of the same radio system.

As for Signals generated by the repeaters, I wouldn't be so sure you could hear them, if they aren't using Oat Mountain. Burbank uses repeaters for its radio system, but I can barely hear them when at my office in Encino.

This was my first "Trunked" agency. I understand that Burbank will be doing the same sometime this year.

Ah, great. Thanks for the info. That gives me more incentive to keep trying.

I'll give the Oat Mountain Frequencies a try and let you know how things go.

Thanks! Glendale is my second one, although still unsuccessful. My first was LA Water and Power. I didn't run into any problems there, but it was pretty boring to listen to afterwards.

I have one question: Do you have both set of frequencies, oak mtn and glendale, active simultaneously?

Finally got it!

I think the problem was that I was trusting the software I was using to work. It doesn't seem like it was working as it should have.

Based on Robert's post, I decided to program it by hand. While I was, I could see that some of the configurations that the software set were incorrect.

BTW - I was using ScanControl to program. I was already disappointed with the software. It's buggy and clunky. There was no demo, so I crossed my fingers and bought it.

After I paid for it, I found out about ARC250. They actually have a demo version. I was impressed.

I hope this is working for you now. I just programmed the Oat Mtn freqs into my new 296D Glendale bank, and could monitor the Glendale TGs in Santa Clarita crystal clear! The Oat Mtn antennas are pointed toward Ventura County and Santa Clarita, so as not to interfer with the Culver City system which uses the same channels.

I've been hearing Glendale PD on one of Burbank's Cell frequencies quite a bit (470.2875) over the past couple of weeks. This freq isn't part of the Glendale Trunking freqs according to the databases. Or, is Burbank "re-transmitting" SOME Glendale transmissions as the Glendale Cell does Burbank?

Also, have you noticed any Burbank transmissions through the Oat Mt. Cell?
