GMRS channel(s) in Aiken South Carolina

Good evening! I'm a GMRS user from Georgia. I may be traveling to Aiken, South Carolina in the coming weeks. I've located a "Aiken 575" GMRS repeater 462.550 (Permission Required). Is that repeater still active? If it is active, who do I contact to get permission to use it? Are there any other GMRS repeaters in Aiken or the area? Is GMRS popular in the Aiken area?

It is now my understanding that the Aiken SC repeater is not yet operational.

Apparently, the Augusta GA / Gilbert SC link is currently being fine tuned. Looks like it will be a great system.

That is my understanding of the Aiken SC repeater. It is not currently operational per the owner.

Is the Augusta GA/Gilbert SC GMRS repeater a "pay to play" repeater? It would appear that way.

Are there any GMRS repeaters in the Augusta GA/Aiken SC area that are free to use?

As far as I know, a paid membership is required.

I am not aware of any other repeaters covering the Augusta GA / Aiken SC area.
