• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So I'm new to GMRS and was just looking for some clarification. If I wanted a repeater and I had the frequency 462.675, that is the receive frequency correct? If that's true, I'm assuming 467.675 is the transmit frequency for the repeater. If anyone can help me clarify, that would be great!

The 462 range is where the repeater will transmit and the 467 is where the mobile would transmit. For simplex on the same channel the mobile would transmit at 462 so people monitoring the repeater would hear it.

If you are looking at it from the perspective of your HT or mobile radio, that is correct, yes.

Your radio transmits on 467.675 and receives on 462.675.

The repeater recieves on 467.675 and transmits on 462.675.

and generally ALL programming should be looked at from the Subscriber units (Users) vs the Infrastructure (Repeater) otherwise you end up with the confusion as well all see by the OP

As mentioned elsewhere:

Make sure you have the correct frequencies for the repeater.
Make sure you have the correct TX PL tone.
REMOVE the RX PL tone and just run in carrier squelch to see if you can hear the repeater. Not all repeaters retransmit the PL tone. Some repeaters use a DIFFERENT tone on the output.

When in doubt, contact the repeater owner and they will give you the correct information.

A silly question, are you certain that you are reaching the repeater?

Do you have the correct "tone" set to open the repeater once you reach it ?
Yes I was standing 1000 feet away from it and I’m pretty sure I have the correct tone

Seems like this guy has as much trouble keeping track of frequencies as he does his own name. 🤡

Seeing as you guys don’t like when I ask questions, I changed my username
