• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

As the title states, my GMRS license is up for renewal:

However, when I click "Renew Licenses" I do not see my call sign in the "Select Licenses" menu:

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong here - any suggestions? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Granted in 2017, so wondering if they screwed up the "10 year" license thing.

A call to the FCC might be in order, but will depend if you get someone useful or not.

Seems like my original GMRS license had a problem too, I couldn't renew it so I got a new one. I'd rather had the other one but meh. They do respond to emails for sure, I have had email interaction with them.

Yeah I was wondering if there was some glitch with the now 10 year GMRS license when renewing from my 5 year license. I’ll see if I can get someone at the FCC on the horn tomorrow. No attachment to this call sign, so if I gotta submit a new application, whatever..

Are you using the old system (where your user ID is your FRN) or the new system (where your user ID is your email address)? The old system is still around, but pretty much only for searching and viewing license information. To make changes or renew you need to use the new system.

Try CORES at COmmission REgistration System for the FCC | Federal Communications Commission (you may need to register for a new account/password and then associate your old FRNs to the new account).

Thanks! I had not registered for the new CORES system. Upcon completing that, I then saw the option to create a new application for renewal in the license manager.

Ha well now I'm stuck with a partially complete application. It has been submitted, but there is option that I see to submit a payment. I'll update here with the resolution from them in case anyone else encounters a similar situation..

New licenses and renewals have an application fee of $35.00 for most ham and GMRS licenses. For ham licenses, this is in addition to the testing fee charged by your testing group. Address changes and similar updates should be at no charge. You should be able to use that option to pay your fee and they should send you an email to the address on file with the FCC for your FRN that has a link taking you to the page where you can pay the fee.

Thanks for posting that. I had NO IDEA this got changed. Now I'm stuck transferring FRNs over and I called the help desk, spoke to Dave and think I'm on the right track. Super nice guy (If he's reading by off chance).

I did not receive any contact back regarding the help ticket I submitted, but after calling, they provided the correct steps to submit the payment. I was mistakenly looking on the License Manager page to find the payment. Per the FCC representative's steps, I logged in via the CORES system here:

I then clicked: Manage Existing FRNs | FRN Financial | Bills and Fees > ULS Pay Fees > Select FRN > Continue to Pay

After which I was able to submit payment, and optionally, print the remittance advice and payment receipt.
