• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I am looking at a Motorola gr1225 45 watt repeater it comes with a celwave duplexer with it. The duplexer is already tuned to 462.300/467.300. I know that’s not gmrs but do I need to get it retuned or is it close enough for 462.550/467.550? Also how good is a celwave duplexer? If I do need it retuned where is the best place to get it done for a decent price. Is there anyone local?

Any radio shop with a tracking generator can tune. It will be an hour's worth of labor if there is no established flat rate. That being said, those duplexers are okay but they do begin desensing around 30W of power. Also, the GR1225 will require a 32 bit version of Windows to program...can't be done with 64 bit versions of Windows 7, Windows 10 or Windows 11.

If I had a laptop with a 32 bit version of windows 10 on it would it work? I will see if I can find a windows 10 32 bit software to download on a laptop.

I do have a true dos laptop but I don’t think there is a rss software For this repeater that will work with it.

I should rephrase and be more specific. 15 years ago, versions 1.0-3.X was readily available online. That particular version was specifically written to run on DOS based Windows (i.e. Windows 3.11, Windows 9.X), etc. Version 4.0 was specifically written for 32 bit NT based Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 10). So yes, if you have Version 4 and Windows 10 32 bit, it will function. My legacy programming laptop (which is a field laptop still and not just a lab laptop thus running Windows still under security support) runs 32 bit Windows LTSC 2019 which is the last version of Windows to support 32 bit architecture.

I have a dos computer. Is there a benefit to running 4.0 vs 3.x? Is there anything I would lose if I downgraded the version to 3.x to work with the computer I have available

If it's been programmed by 4 you may not be able to use anything older than 4.
