Thank you.
Which CHP Station would cover that?
(This will be my first time in SF).

Thanks for your responses.

Actually the bridge is entirely the jurisdiction of CHP Marin. Their jurisdiction extends into the Presidio.

Oh yeah, now I remember that, my senile old brain forgot that many years ago :)
We make a good team, I post wrong stuff and you correct me. (again :))

BTW: GGB Sites about an hr ago - no change
Again this is a :) friend post, not a :( post....

If your hill didn't block my radio signals I might be able to keep up to date on these things, actually for SF it's not your hill, it's that little hill called Wolfe Back Ridge, and since I took down my low band antenna after Marin went from low band to UHF I haven't been able to pickup SF CHP. (Just making excuses :))

Sorry Wayne I'll quit now, just bored...

Haha, I feel bad correcting you all the time. But thanks for making me feel smart :)

Anyways, to bring us back on topic, I do notice a difference in the signal strength between Site 101 and Site 102 from my hill. Site 101 comes in at 5 bars on my BCD396XT, while Site 102 typically comes in at 3-4 bars. So I think they are indeed operating from the licensed sites. You have pretty unimpeded line of sight to Bald Peak (except for somebody's hill), so that would explain the strong control channel.

Where is the Bald Hill you are talking about, the bald hill I know is in San Anselmo.

That is correct. Bridge Patrol Officers are not peace officers, but BART Police Officers are.
That's because there is a penal code section (830.something) that specifically mentions BART police as being peace officers. However they didn't start out that way. My understanding is they were originally security officers until their union voted to make the change in 1976.

The Bald Peak used for this system is in Orinda (37.88356, -122.22178)

According to the BART website, in 1969 the board of directors recommended that local police and sheriff's departments patrol their properties. The police chiefs and sheriffs refused, and legislation was passed to form the BART Police Department.

I get the opposite, EDIT - STAND BY I THINK I MESSED THIS UP!!!
EDIT - CORRECTED - Still Opposite just had them listed wrong
101 (773.38125) is 98-99% and mostly 5bars but sometimes drops to 4 or 3, with ATT on to drops to 3 and and sometime doesn't receive T at all.
102 (770.61875) is 99% and 5 full bars and with ATT on drops to 98% and 4-5 bars

EDIT: But remember, that even though "the hill" blocks my eastern signals, there's a lot of terrain between my canyon and Mt Tam also.

and picking up Sonoma today, 3-4 bars but mostly dropping out (no T)

Cool, that was the control channel before they switched to the test signals. All control channels observed so far have been added to the database.

Status Update

According to a source at the Bridge District, the target for the system to be operational is sometime in 2013. Each site is now putting out a test signal in addition to the control channel. The test signal sounds exactly like a Motorola alert tone, but is constant. I've listed the current frequencies below:

Site 101 (Mt. Tam / GGB Toll Plaza Simulcast)

770.25625
771.15625 - control channel
773.38125 - P25 test signal
773.99375

Site 102 (Bald Peak / Big Rock Ridge Simulcast)

770.61875 - P25 test signal
771.33125
773.63125 - control channel
774.24375

Site 103 (Sonoma Mountain)

770.00625 - control channel
770.86875
773.24375
773.70625 - P25 test signal
