Last night and this afternoon here in Wisconsin I had some pretty darn good shortwave sessions. In addition to all the US Southeastern coast stations* I also got signals from Spain, Turkey, France, Italy, Germany.

South America was dead both times, and nothing from China. In all, two enjoyable sessions.

*I tend to take for granted all the SW stations we have here, most of which are religious broadcasts, but I really should try to appreciate them more.

Many US shortwave broadcasts from as far away as Florida have better signals than some of the local AM stations we have here.

That's pretty good recetion Ditto considering your location. Good on you for your monitoring skills.
Thanks, but I don’t have any particular skills other than hopefully some common sense. The radios I have accumulated are surprisingly good and make it easy to get interesting catches.

When I first went back to DX-ing* I didn’t know how to find anything, but I kept at it, found these forums and learned as I went along.

*As kids we did AM DX-ing at night without knowing there was a name for it. I also had a friend who would invite me over to play with his SW radios.

Sad where I am, getting below 30 MHz, the noise increases. Below 15 MHz, the noise goes to S9.
So much for SWLing.

And, just like that bands were dead last night. The K level went from 1.65 to 4 and headed up to over 5 😥
