As anyone in the Akron area knows, there has been a Motorola Type II system online for years for Goodyear Tire and rubber. This system is at:

https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=1364

However, the license (WNYV657) was modified in 2009 to change all frequencies (rebanded ?) and again modified in 2012 to change emissions to DMR.

Incidentally, we have had nobody submit any updates to this system since before that time.

This leads me to believe that the system is (a) probably no longer a Motorola Type II system and (b) is likely on the new frequencies as either a Motorola Capacity Plus or Connect Plus system.

If you are in the Akron area, please check the following frequencies for the presence of a control channel (which would likely be a DMR control channel). If it's a Capacity Plus system, there will not be any 24/7 control channel and frequencies will only be active with speech / data / beaconing at various times. But if it is a Cap+ site and you are using DSDPlus to check the frequencies, it will clearly tell you if it is Cap+ or Con+.

859.9375
860.1875
860.7375

Any updated info should be submitted to: https://www.radioreference.com/apps/submit/?sid=1364

Appropriate changes will be made by an Ohio admin pending any submissions. If the submissions indicate it has changed to DMR, this system will be deprecated and a new system will be created to replace it in the DB.

I have a high degree of confidence that the above frequencies are active with DMR signals, so if you are within earshot of that system please check it out and provide us with some details.

Thanks

I don't have great reception even though I'd say I'm relatively close, but appears to be a Cap+ system. CC1, 859.9375 is the current rest channel and its LCN 3. Heard one talkgroup so far, 110.

Also of note it appears they have a second license, WPNP334, conventional only.

Edit, had an hourly safety alert checkup on TG 105 and the dispatcher? announced WNYV657.

Thanks man. I'm glad you watch all of the Ohio threads :)

Ok, I'm going to create the new system in the DB, then deprecate the old. And we'll go from there.

Just curious. Are you using DSDPlus or a scanner? I want to pin down the LCNs, but I want to get it right and watching DSDPlus can sometimes be confusing.

If you are using DSDPlus, regardless of which channel you are monitoring, wait long enough for you to hear voice activity on the frequency you are monitoring. At that point you should see a line in DSDPlus like:

Current channel is first Cap+ repeater (Ch1 and Ch2)

or

Current channel is second Cap+ repeater (Ch3 and Ch4)

or

Current channel is third Cap+ repeater (Ch5 and Ch6)

Obviously, you wouldn't see the Ch1/2 message unless you were on LCN1, wouldn't see the Ch3/4 message unless you were on LCN2 and wouldn't see the Ch5/6 message unless you were on LCN3

So, if you are using DSDPlus, determine the LCNs that way, because then we know absolutely for sure that we have it right.

If you are using a DMR-capable scanner, is it a Uniden? And can you run LCN Finder on it during busy times ?

Thanks. Great work. I'm getting ready to make the "new" system appear in the DB and the old one disappear. But I'll like to both in my next post so that people can reference the old system if they want.

I'm using DSDPlus, and the rest channel was advertising ch 6 as rest at that time, and also I waited for voice activity and DSDPlus said the same freq was the third cap+ repeater ch 5 and ch 6. All for 859.9375.

The old system had the following talkgroups. I'm sure some of the same talkgroups will exist on the new one (with likely different talkgroup numbers of course).

Code:
16	ATG
208	Security
400	Grounds
464	Plant Ops
720	Maintenance
