GPS for 536HP

I currently own a garmin GPS receiver with a USB connector which was used by a previous Garmin GPS system that used a laptop computer and software (model GPS18)

Is there any way to use this GPS receiver with the 536HP?
The software for it is no longer updated by Garmin, and its pretty useless sitting in my drawer. Would like to use it with the scanner if possible.

Unfortunately, that version uses a non-standard USB connection instead of the industry standard NMEA 0183 connection (RS422, which is compatible with RS232).
